Cleo, Blind Senior Redbone Coonhound
Several months ago "F3" was dropped off at a kill shelter in Ohio. She was emaciated and in terrible pain from advanced glaucoma. F3 was headed right for the kill room, we pulled her and had her vetted immediately. Thinking that at 12 years old, being bred and hunted for her whole life, there had to be at least one underlying condition causing her emaciation, leading her owner to dump her for euthanasia. We were prepared to have her gently leave this world in loving arms. Guess what? There's nothing wrong with her but the glaucoma! Someone was actually starving this sweet, elderly girl to death, and keeping her in a painful state of blindness. Whoever owned her didn't even have the decency to take her to the vet for euthanasia, they took her to the kill shelter "for free." When we found out that she's in good health, we had her eyes removed to stop the pain. She would always have been blind, now she is blind without pain. She is now Cleo, our beautiful, proud redbone girl. We want to pay for her vetting and transport and bring her home to sleep on a cushion in front of the fire, know the kindness of love and kisses and ear scritches, and sniff the fresh air for as long as she has left. Please help us continue Cleo's rescue and rehabilitation!
